Heart of Gaia is a highly textural hand-stitched fiber landscape made with a wide range of fibers and natural elements. Through slow, intuitive layering and thousands of stitches, the piece grows into a terrain that feels both imagined and familiar. Rooted in my fascination with the quiet systems that shape the land, it reflects how small connections build living worlds. It invites viewers into a tactile space that feels ancient, alive, and full of discovery.
Heart of Gaia is 100% handstitched. It contains over 6,500 French knots, over 1,600 individual fiber elements, and over 150 real rocks (all stitched on.) It took 9 1/2 months to complete and was finished in 2025.
It measures 44″ wide by 34″ tall.
