Behind the Threads

Meet the Artist

Finding your artistic path is a journey. It might surprise you to know that my first creative acts had nothing to do with art.

Join me as trace the steps that brought me to becoming the artist I am today. Before I began creating my Wildscapes collection, I explored various techniques and forms that helped me find my voice as an artist. You’ll get a glimpse of the evolution of my work and how it has developed over time.

If you’re curious about the creative process or looking for inspiration on your own artistic journey, I hope you enjoy this personal reflection!

  1. Hi Susan, I just recently found you and I have no idea who or what led me to your site. You are like a breath of fresh air. Thank you, Lindy in northwestern lower Michigan.

  2. Your site was mentioned by Anne Brooke, an artist in England. I live the the Midwest US. I love fiber arts and your work is very inspiring. I hope to join your weekly post.

    1. Thank you so much for your comment, Colleen. How very nice of Anne to mention me. I am glad you can find some inspiration from my work. I am headed down working hard for my first open studios next month so I haven’t been as active on YouTube and my blog is much neglected, but I hope come November to have more time to devote to both I know the timing isn’t great when you’re in the UK for my live streams, which are noon here in California. We do have one gal that stays up late to join us but if you’re ever around late at night, you’re more than welcome. We have a great supportive group of mostly stitches and some paper artists.

  3. I love happy accidents! I’m not sure how I got here but you are exactly what I need in my life right now. I look forward to exploring your content. Thank you!

    1. Thank you so much. I’m glad you found me. I stitch in a livestream every Wednesday at noon, California time, on YouTube if you want to come hang out. We have a lovely friendly group.
