You live several lives while reading." William Styron

THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE BOOKS
When I got married and
started to think about having a family, the only thing I knew for sure
was that I did not want to raise an only child. As an only child
myself, I remembered longing for a sibling to play with. But when my
kids were young, it wasn't anything like I had imagined it would be.
They fought over everything, just like Nathan and Nora. Although my children never found a dog and tried to
keep it from me, it was easy to imagine that it was just the sort of
thing they would do.

This book isn't totally mine, but I am in
it. It is a collection of African American picture books, complete with
their original art, in one collection. My book, CAN I PRAY WITH MY EYES
OPEN? is included.
OUT
OF PRINT BOOKS
It's sad, but
yes, books do go out of print.
A
Pony Named Midnight and The
Very Patient Pony are easy readers that
take place in a horse camp. The pony Midnight is blind and the
character Eric, in The Very Patient
Pony, is in a wheelchair. These
books were written for the inclusion-based market. I do have some
copies still available. Please contact me for details.
Sometimes you can
sell a book and it never gets published at all. Now that's a
major bummer, let me tell you. That happened to me with my picture
book, When Jasper Closed His Eyes
which was supposed to be published by Fairview Press. The illustrations
were wonderful and it would have been my first picture book but alas,
the publisher closed its doors and while I got to keep the advance, the
book was never published.
