Learning comes
to all of us in different
ways. Some children attend traditional schools. Some are taught at
home. Adults
learn from other adults in person, or perhaps through online
mentoring, chats or email. This page is designed to share with you
education-based pages that perpetuate the learning cycles in a variety
of creative ways. Please let me know of other links that you think
should be shared here.

TERRIFIC
CONNECTIONS
WITH
AUTHORS, ILLUSTRATORS AND STORYTELLERS:
REAL
SPACE AND VIRTUAL LINKS
by Toni Buzzeo and Jane Kurtz |
|
| |
Exciting,
productive connections with
authors, illustrators, and storytellers
are at your fingertips with this resource. Unlike other author visit
guides,
this book goes beyond nuts-and-bolts planning to illustrate how to
create
the best possible encounters between students and authors.
Successful visits in real space and in
cyberspace are described, giving you specific ideas of the many ways to
connect with and create meaningful links between bookpeople and
children. Choosing the right guest, guidelines for successful visits,
making curriculum connections, using
e-mail to connect with bookpeople, having live chats in virtual space,
taking advantage of ITB and satellite technology, and using props and
curriculum guides are some of the topics covered. Lists of
author/illustrator Web pages and managed Internet sites for author
interaction are
included. Grades K-12.
Toni Buzzeo, chosen as the 1999 Maine
School Library Media Specialist of the Year, works at Longfellow School
Library Media Center, Portland
Public Schools, Maine. Jane Kurtz is a children’s author and lecturer
in the English Department, University of North Dakota, Grand
Forks.
